I just got this email from American Airlines giving me free Gold Status through 4/19/2020 and they are giving me 4 500mile upgrades just for registering. What's confusing is they are giving another 4 500mile upgrades for completing the promotion. So when I log into the site, here are more details. So if you manage to extend your status through 1/31/21 by earning $850 EQD or 7000 EQM, I think you get 4 500 mile upgrades as well.

As a background, I was a nothing member for over 10 years (not a single mile flown on AA for that time) then I became Executive Platinum a few years back going to Panama many times, then became nothing again the next year. I think I've been a nothing member for 2 years.
I will sign up for this but have no real travel plans with a baby, the only possible good for me is to potentially be able to use my old 500 mile upgrades.
